As the class ended, everyone lined up on the bags and did two sets of 30 knees, which was great except for my poor knees hadn't ever been abused in such a way and I ended up badly bruising them. I spoke with the guy I found in there, who was also the BJJ instructor, signed the standard "If you die here we aren't resonsible" legal form and was ushered out. The place basically reminded me alot of a boxing gym in their approach of people. My background being that i'm currently a Boxer Who will be hopefully competing in about a year or less and I'v trained in JKD with a Jerry Poteet trained instructor for about a year as well. Another big point in their favor, both for how great the instructor was with us and about answering my questions and about not pushing me to join. I would have expected some sort of speel about prices or something but was pleasantly surprised that nothing of the sort happened. Thats one point in their favor. The sparring that the students were doing looked good and strong. I checked out this place just yesterday and seeing as how I can't go into my boxing gym because of it i'v decided to post a review. Theres no pressure to join, no pressure at all if you didn't want it, just come in, learn, work out and leave. After class I braced myself for what I figured would be a battle to get out of the place without having to listen to them ask if I wanted to sign up for a contract or some such but again, nothing. When I arrived for it I had to search for their office Which is located in the basement of the training facilities for some odd reason but otherwise it was without incident. Is it for me? It's really refreshing to go into that kind of enviroment rather then one of pushy sales that you find in alot of places. The instructor even offered my friend and I a week of trial classes so we could see what it was really about. The one strike I had to put against it, they have contracts and it would seem fairly long ones, I personally don't like that but its not a big deal. No, I think I'll stick to Boxing and save my poor knees. Onto the class, I had the unfortunate luck of chosing to take my intro class to Muay Thai on their designated Sparring night. I called and made an appointment for my friend and I easily. My final thoughts being that the place would be great to train in. The instructors seem very good at what they are doing, the class atmostsphere is friendly and helpful. I'v been looking around Ottawa and checking for the best places to train in various MAs, when I came upon this place http:
